It is recommended that you upgrade to Windows 8.1. All legitimate users of Windows 8, except for owners of commercial licenses, can upgrade free of charge. If you cannot upgrade to Windows 8.1, please refer to the tutorial for upgrading to Dr.Web Security Space 10 from Dr.Web anti-virus on computers running Windows 8.1.

How to upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1

  1. Remove Dr.Web Anti-virus for Windows (for more information, please refer to the section Uninstalling Dr.Web Anti-virus for Windows).
  2. Connect to the Internet.
  3. Open Store. To do this, press the WINDOWS button to switch to the Metro UI, and click on the tile Store.
  4. Click on the large banner that says Free upgrade to Windows 8.1. If you do not see this banner, follow steps 5 and 6; otherwise, ignore these steps.
  5. Determine whether you're using a 32- or 64-bit version of Windows. Proceed with the following steps:
    1. Press WINDOWS + X, and in the subsequent menu, select System.
    2. The System Type parameter will indicate your Windows platform.
  6. Installing the update:
    1. For the 32-bit version [Download]
    2. For the 64-bit version [Download]
  7. Press Install. If you encounter installation errors, try again by clicking the Install button.
  8. Follow the Installation Wizard’s instructions.
