Upgrading from version 8 to 9.0
Users of earlier Dr.Web versions can upgrade free of charge.
Step 1. Download and run the installer
Download the distribution of the anti-virus from Doctor Web's site at https://download.drweb.com.
Click Save in the browser prompt to save the distribution onto the hard drive and specify the folder in which you'd like to save the file.
Run the file you downloaded. If you are installing Dr.Web under Windows Vista and later, click Yes in the user account control dialogue.
Step 2. Detection of the previous version and its removal
If the Installation wizard detects a previous version of the anti-virus installed in the system, it will offer you to upgrade it. Press Update.
While upgrading, the wizard will remove the previous version. If errors occur during removal of the previous version and the anti-virus wouldn't uninstall, use the utility for emergency removal of corrupt Dr.Web installations, which you can download here: https://cdn-download.drweb.com/pub/drweb/tools/drw_remover.exe. You can also contact the technical support at https://support.drweb.com.
While uninstalling the previous version, you need to agree to clean the quarantine and remove the settings of the earlier version of Dr.Web Security Space. Check the boxes for the item you want to delete and press Next.
To continue the removal you need to disable the anti-virus's self-protection. Enter the CAPTCHA code and click Remove program.
After you have uninstalled the previous version of the anti-virus, you will be prompted to restart the system. Press Restart Now.
Step 3. Install the new version
After rebooting the PC, anti-virus installation should start automatically. If it does not, find the previously downloaded file and run it.
If you are installing Dr.Web under Windows Vista and later, click I once more in the user account control dialogue.
The installation wizard window will open. Check the box I accept the terms of License agreement and press Next. Click on the appropriate link to view the agreement.
If you want to install Dr.Web Firewall, in the subsequent window check the Install Dr.Web Firewall checkbox. Press Next.
If you want to connect to the Dr.Web "cloud" services, tick I want to connect to services (recommended) and press Next.
If you upgrade to version 9.0 from an earlier version of Dr.Web, the installation wizard will automatically detect the key file. If the file is not found, then click Browse and specify the path to an existing key file (used by the older version). Press Next.
To complete the installation, click Install. To view the settings, click on the Installation parameters link.
Once all necessary actions are performed, the wizard will prompt you to reboot the system. Save all your data and restart your computer.
