Update Dr.Web anti-virus to version 8.0
Update is FREE of charge for users of early Dr.Web versions
Step 1. Download and run the installer
Download the distribution from Doctor Web's site at http://download.drweb.com.
Click Save in the browser prompt to save the distribution onto the hard drive and specify the folder in which you'd like to save the file.
Run the file you downloaded. If you are installing Dr.Web under Windows Vista and later, click Yes in the user account control dialogue.
Step 2. Detection of a previous version and its removal
If the Installation wizard detects a previous version of the anti-virus installed in the system, it will offer you to remove it. Click Remove.
If errors occur during removal of the previous version and the anti-virus wouldn't uninstall, use the utility for emergency removal of corrupt Dr.Web installations, which you can download here: http://download.geo.drweb.com/pub/drweb/tools/drw_remover.exe. You can also contact the technical support at https://support.drweb.com.
When removing the previous version, you will be prompted to remove the contents of the quarantine. Click Yes to delete data from the quarantine, or No to save it.
If you are upgrading from version 7.0, you need to choose whether you want to keep the existing anti-virus settings. Click Yes to delete the settings or choose No to save them.
To continue the removal you need to disable the anti-virus's self-protection. Enter the CAPTCHA code and click Disble Self-protection.
After you have uninstalled the previous version of the anti-virus, you will be prompted to restart the system. Press Yes.
Step 3. Install the new version
After rebooting the PC, anti-virus installation should start automatically. If it does not, find the previously downloaded file and run it.
If you are installing Dr.Web under Windows Vista and later, click Yes once more in the User Account Control dialogue.
The installation wizard window will open. Check the I accept the terms of License agreement box and press Next. Click on the appropriate link to view the agreement.
If you want to install Dr.Web Firewall, in the subsequent window check the Install Dr.Web Firewall checkbox Press Next.
If you want to connect to the Dr.Web "cloud" services, tick I want to connect to services (recommended) and press Next. With the "cloud" services you will have an opportunity to check URLs in real time against latest Dr.Web databases.
If you upgrade to version 8.0 from an earlier version of Dr.Web, the installation wizard will automatically detect the key file. If the file is not found, then click Browse and specify the path to an existing key file (used by the older version). Press Next.
To complete the installation, click Install. To view the settings, click on the Installation parameters link.
After all necessary actions are performed, the wizard will prompt you to reboot the system. Save all your data and restart your computer.
