To neutrolize malware species from the Trojan.Winlock family Dr.Web CureIt! features a unique anti-blocker mechanism. When you run the utility, all its windows are displayed on the protected desktop, beyond the Trojan’s reach. The user is displayed a notification informing them that they can continue to work in the enhanced protection mode (while other operations will be unavailable) or run Dr.Web CureIt! in the standard mode. When running in the enhanced mode, you can't switch to the standard mode until scanning is completed.

Self-protection of the Dr.Web anti-virus is activated at an early startup stage. New stealth algorithms allowing the utility to remain unnoticed by viruses rule out the possibility of blocking its operation before this point.
